A smallholding can be anything from a small back garden to a 50 acre farm, but whatever size they are they will usually produce a variety of food including vegetables, fruit, eggs meat and milk. More and more people are "growing their own" and often want to move on to poultry, livestock and a wider range of crops as they realise the value and pleasure of producing their own food.
Getting to grips with the reality of running a small farm can be a challenge, especially as you try to find your way around government departments, grants and regulations. We hope that our Information and Resources will help to make it all a bit easier!
By gathering as much information as we can, all in one place, we aim to make it easier for you to get started on new projects and find all the paperwork you need. We also aim to put you in touch with the organisations you need to work with, and most of all with each other through our newsletters and events so you can share your experiences, have a laugh over them, and lighten the load.
